Therapeutic and Social Activities are a principal part of life at Cherry Holt. There is a full time activity coordinator and all
care staff are trained in the importance of activity and
Cherry Holt offers a wide range of activities designed to encourage
the service user to keep mobile and most importantly to take an interest in life. Staff encourage and help service users to pursue their hobbies and interests, therefore activities are tailored and take into account the service user’s interests, skills, past experiences, personalities and medical condition.
Initially, information on the health and social needs are obtained during a pre-admission assessment and this is further researched on admission when a detailed social history is taken by liaising with the service user and loved ones.
The weekly activity plan details group activities such as quizzes, bingo, arts and crafts and holistic therapies and also one to one activities for service users such as music, reading, board games and manicures are also available in the service users own room.
People’s religious and cultural needs are respected and supported and ministers from a wide range of denominations regularly visit the home.
The home also organises regular fayres and special themed days such as Dignity in Care day where entertainment and pampering sessions take place for service users to enjoy.
